ABout Us
Hi, I’m Chaz (Charis McKeever) and I teach alongside my husband, John. We’ve been married for 21 years, and funnily enough, our very first “couple” was our own first dance. We fell in love with the process, and more importantly, the joy and confidence it brings to couples. Teaching as a husband-and-wife team means you get both perspectives in the room. We understand the nerves from both sides, especially the big one most couples think: “We’re going to look awkward.”
Our goal is simple. You won’t. You’ll feel relaxed, confident, and completely natural.
I’ve been dancing and teaching for over 24 years, with much of that time focused on helping couples create beautiful, natural first dances for their wedding day. I’ve worked with more than 400 couples, each with their own story and moment on the dance floor.
I previously owned Rhythm Dance Studios in South Africa, a space dedicated to social dancing and wedding couples, and we were honoured twice as Inland Winners at the ABIA Awards for Top Wedding Dance Studio.
Alongside dance, I’ve been deeply involved in the wedding industry, from lecturing at the SA School of Weddings to on-the-day coordination, and running my own stationery design business, Kaliente Designs, which I still lead today with my South African team.
This means we don’t just teach steps. We understand how your wedding day flows and help make sure your first dance fits seamlessly into it. Four years ago, my family and I moved to the UK and settled in Portishead, and I’m so excited to now bring this experience to couples across Portishead, Bristol and North Somerset.
One of the best moments for us is when it all clicks, when you realise, “Wait… we can actually do this.” That shift from nervous to excited is everything.
My philosophy is simple:
If you can walk, you can dance. If you feel like you have two left feet, we’ll make one right.
And if you’ve got a bit of rhythm, even better.
Private sessions give you the space to relax, have fun, and learn together without any pressure. Lessons can be held in Portishead or in the comfort of your own home.
So honestly, what have you got to lose? Let’s have some fun and create something unforgettable together.
